Training Title: Training on Practical approaches on Employment and Labour Issues

Training objectives: The overall training objective is to updated knowledge of Bangladesh labor Law 2006 and Labour rules 2015 for the executives responsible for managing human resources/workforce. Sharing practical knowledge & experience on employment and labour issues and process documentation. Develop awareness on the essential regulatory issues in dealing with workforce in the industrial scenario.

Training course content:

  • Introduction to Bangladesh labor Act 2006 and rules 2015
  • Classification of workers, Employers
  • Appointment of workers
  • Function and eligibility of welfare officer
  • Formation and function of Safety committee
  • Working hour  and  OT calculation
  • Different type of Leave [Annual, Festival etc], its calculation and payment
  • Trade Union, CBA and its Registration,
  • Formation and function of Participation Committee
  • Misconduct, Punishment and Disciplinary Proceedings,
  • Profit Participation: Its rules and procedure
  • Formation of Provident Fund, Rules and Trusty Board
  • Apprenticeship program
  • Power and responsibility of Director of Labor
  • Approval of Factory’s Layout plan and Registration Procedure
  • Different Forms and Reporting formats and procedure

During the discussions, the resource person addressed the entire questions raised by the participants. Participants shared their views and practical knowledge during the training session. Participant’s interaction was meaningful.

Training evaluation: The program was evaluated through structured questionnaire. On the training course, participants evaluated the whole training program through prescribed format.

Resource person: Mr. Adv. JAFRUL HASAN SHARIF (Member of Drafting Committee of Bangladesh Labor Rules 2015); He is one of the leading labour and employment law practitioners of Bangladesh. He has both local and global exposure in this area of law. Apart from working for significant number of companies and organizations on labour issues, he is also working as a consultant of the ILO on various legal matters. Also Mr. Joha Jamilur Rahman, Training coordinator, BEF act as course coordinator and provide support based on demand of resource person and participants.

Conclusion: In conclusion, Participants expressed their positive feedback that they would make some contributions at their workplaces by using gathered knowledge.
