Training on Workplace safety and compliance


 

Training objectives: The overall objective of this training program is to raise awareness, improve knowledge and skills of the participants regarding OSH at the workplace and measures to be taken to ensure safe & healthy environment and compliance issues at workplace

Organized by: Bangladesh Employers Federation (BEF)

Venue: Conference hall of MCCI, Chamber building, 122-124 Motijheel, Dhaka-1000.

Program duration: 28-29 March 2016

No. of participants Attended: 34 (Male- 32 and Female- 02)

Training course content:

  • Introduction to occupational safety and health
  • Legislative framework of OSH
  • Introduction to workplace hazards
  • Safety and ergonomics
  • Work related stress
  • Risk assessment and hazard control
  • Trends in managing OSH
  • Fire safety, Electric safety, Dangerous chemical, slip etc
  • Responsibilities of Supervisors and Workers under the Occupational Health and Safety policy
  • Factors of compliance in industry

During the discussions, the resource person addressed the entire questions raised by the participants. Participants shared their views and practical knowledge during the training session. Participant’s interaction was meaningful.

Training evaluation: The program was evaluated through structured questionnaire. On the training course, participants evaluated the whole training program through prescribed format.

Resource person: A pool of resource person including Engr. M. Hafizur Rahman, PEng, CEO, Summit oil and Shipping Company Ltd. And Mr. Shah Alam Talukder, PEng Electric consultant. They all having more than 15 years of hands-on exposure to all-round and workplace safety & compliance issues in industry, Also Mr. Joha Jamilur Rahman, Training coordinator, BEF act as course coordinator and provide support based on demand of resource person and participants.

Conclusion: In conclusion, Participants expressed their positive feedback that they would make some contributions at their workplaces by using gathered knowledge.
